Mobile Marketing: Amazon Smartphone to Challenge iPhone, Android
Internet-based retail industry giant Amazon is set to kick off its own smartphone.
Sources acquainted with Amazon’s intentions tell Bloomberg that the organization is now looking for numerous wireless technology patents to lay the groundwork for production of the actual device.
Although not much is known of the pending program for the time being, it is thought that the handset is meant to directly battle with Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android smartphones.
Foxconn International Holdings Ltd., the Chinese firm that assists Apple produce the iPhone, is working with Amazon on the venture.
A smartphone would give Amazon a wider array of low-cost hardware instruments that reinforce its strategy of making money from electronic books, songs and movies. It would help CEO Jeff Bezos– who made a foray into tablets with the Kindle Fire– take a slice of the marketplace for cutting-edge wireless devices.
